My New Toy!

My third post this weekend! Its been busy.

This is my new Cuisinart mixer. Isn't it grand? Mama likes the way it looks on her counters, but it's going with me when I leave!

It was expensive in the eyes of my college budget life, but already it made my weekend easier.

Grandpa Cake

Saturday night we celebrated my Big Papaw's 86th birthday.

Finding a cake to honor him was a little hard, but I saw an idea similiar to this online and loved it.

Vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream icing. The little people are fondant and the shag carpet is icing.

I was proud of the way it turned out, honoring my pastor great-granddaddy with a Holy Bible in his lap.

Each year our Mississippi State Hospital has a patient art show and sale entitled Serendipity. This year I had the great honor of making a cake for the Human Resource office to meet and plan this year's event.

Chocolate cake with buttercream icing. The icing was textured to look like canvas. The crayons used for the border are fondant - so completely edible - except for the wrappers.

The wrappers were cut with a xacto knife from real Crayola crayons.

This is a chocolate cake with buttercream icing and fondant accents.

Everyone loves a good animal print.
